A few honest answers

Frequently Asked
Questions

The questions I get asked the most, answered straight.

Born in Cincinnati in 1977, raised in Milwaukee. My mother died by firearm suicide when I was 22 months old. I got into roofing at 18, started my own company out of my garage in 2002, and built it into one of the top firms in Wisconsin. I lost it in an involuntary Chapter 7 in 2011, climbed back, and later grew Roofed Right America from $5M to $35M with 180 people. I ran for Congress in 2016 and served as a DNC Representative for Wisconsin from 2017 to 2023. Today I am Division President at MetalMaster-RoofMaster.

Every move was deliberate. I grew Roofed Right America to $35M, then it sold to private equity and we stopped seeing eye to eye, so I resigned at the end of 2025. I spent a few months at Great Day Improvements, then a recruiter brought me to MetalMaster, a 49-year-old company being rebuilt as an ESOP. That is the one I am all in on. If the moves looked restless from the outside, the reasons behind each one were not.

I am Division President at MetalMaster-RoofMaster, the Upper Midwest division of Wolkow Braker Roofing Corp. We do commercial roofing and architectural sheet metal. The company is 49 years old and full of capacity, and my job is to help unleash it. I love it, and I have not been able to say that in a long time.

My focus is running MetalMaster. This site is my story in my own words, not a booking page. If something here resonates and you want to talk, get in touch.

My mother shot and killed herself when I was 22 months old. She had easy access to a gun and almost no access to mental health care. More than half of all gun deaths in America are suicides. I work on prevention because I know, from the inside, what is at stake.

Not gun bans. They are not realistic, and I would rather spend my energy on what can pass and save lives: universal background checks on every sale, including private ones, and red flag laws that let a family temporarily remove guns from someone at their lowest. Commonsense, enactable, across every kind of gun violence.
